Chocolate Sultry Eye Tutorial

Years behind the counters at MAC and Bare Escentuals means that I own way too much makeup. I basically collect it at this point. I love creating different looks for special events – and the holidays are my favorite occasion. I’ve been rocking this soft, sultry chocolate eye over the past few weeks and so many of you have hit me up on Snapchat (blondebagel) saying you love it! I decided to sit down and put together an easy tutorial for this perfect easy smokey eye look. Way back in February I wrote about my obsession with the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette. When the Sephora VIB Sale rolled around I decided to treat myself to the OG Too Faced chocolate palette – the Chocolate Bar. I’ve been using it nonstop ever since! chocolate eye tutorial I always start by blending a transition shade into my crease using a fluffy brush. This helps blend all the colors seamlessly together later on. I dipped my MAC 224 brush into the shade “Milk Chocolate.” I then blended this into the hollow of my crease using circular buffing motions. Take your time with this step! Your transition shade is what creates that soft, sultry look. chocolate eye tutorial chocolate eye tutorial I then took a flat shader brush and picked up a sparkly champagne color called “Marzipan.” I pressed it all over my mobile lid. This gives a beautiful wash of natural shimmer that brightens up the eye. I’m actually genuinely concerned that I’ll run out of this shade faster than all the others – it’s one of my holy grails. chocolate eye tutorial chocolate eye tutorial To really smoke out the look I grabbed my MAC 217 brush and picked up a deep, chocolate brown called “Triple Fudge.” This shade is a dark, cool matte brown perfect for sultry eyes. I used my 217 to blend it into the very corner of my lid. I like using the 217 for outer corner smokey eyes because it’s stiff enough to pick up the pigment, but fluffy enough to prevent any harsh lines. chocolate eye tutorial chocolate eye tutorial I’ve been a really big fan of my Bare Escentuals eyeliner lately. I like that it has staying power, but also some give. I lined my top lid with a chocolate brown color and then smudged it out with my ring finger to add to the sultry effect. Notice I’ve kept my lower lid completely clear of product. It’s super unfortunate – but I seriously have the wateriest eyes ever. Nothing stays put! If you have any suggestions please throw them my way. chocolate eye tutorial chocolate eye tutorial I usually am a big fan of the classic Diorshow Mascara, but lately I’ve been using Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara. I love the curved shape of the wand. It helps to give crazy volume. I actually have pretty long lashes, but these babies are super blonde and super straight. I make sure to wiggle the curved wand to catch every lash as I go. chocolate eye tutorial This past week I picked up a new lipstick! There’s nothing that makes a bad week better than a trip to the makeup counter. I’ve been eyeing the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks for a while now, but they’re so absurdly expensive. Like let’s be real. $32 buys you a whole lot of lattes, or in Charlotte’s case, one lipstick. Barf. But I have to give it to her, the shade “Bitch Perfect” is actually my perfect nude. “Bitch Perfect” is a beautiful blend of pink, coral, and nude. It’s definitely my new favorite and while I don’t think I’ll be picking up any new shades of hers soon, I’m hooked on this one. chocolate eye tutorial chocolate eye tutorial And that my friends is the completed look! I love that it’s super simple and only uses one palette. It’s also perfect from everything everyday or even a holiday party!
