4 Reasons to Shop Pre-Loved

Living on Haight Street has made me an expert at thrift shopping. For those of you not familiar with Haight Street – it’s where the hippie movement started in San Francisco way back in the 1960’s. Think tie dye, boho, and way too many psychedelic drugs.

Yep, that’s my neighborhood.

Haight Street today is mostly just packed with tourists and weirdos. The hippies are long gone. But the best part about Haight Street are the thrift stores. I have such a crazy appreciation for shopping at thrift and consignment stores now. Especially when it comes to designer items – it’s sort of  downright silly to pay full price.

You actually don’t have to live in near consignment stores to shop pre-loved. My best kept shopping secret are online consignment stores. This bright red Celine is from Trendlee – one of my fave places to shop pre-loved online. I also found this amazing draped black sweater at one of the consignment stores on Haight St!

Worry less.

I don’t know about you but when I spend a lot of money on something I freak out about keeping it perfect. At the same time, I’m also a woman who fully believes handbags are meant to be used.

Some of them are like pieces of art – but in my opinion bags aren’t meant to sit on a shelf. Use those babies!

Shopping pre-loved means less worry because the bags are no longer brand spanking new. There might be a ding, a nick, a scratch – and that’s okay. Someone else did the breaking in for you.

Enjoy the story.

And about those dings, nicks, and scratches – they all have a story behind them. That watermark might be from when the owner got caught in the rain during a road trip. That scratch might be as the bag hit the door of an office on their way out of an awesome interview.

The cool thing about shopping pre-loved is getting an item that’s seen someone else’s life. In some cases you can even ask that owner about it!

Shop your fave discontinued styles.

One of the coolest things about shopping pre-loved is the ability to shop styles that are discontinued. Styles go in and out of season – only a handful are a permanent part of collections. So let’s say you fell in love with the Chanel Grand Shopping Tote (“GST”). The only way to get your hands on that specific style is to buy pre-loved.

I’ve actually been dying for a Gucci Soho Disco – and there’s been rumors swirling around that they’re going to be discontinued! I’ve been checking this page on Trendlee like every week waiting for the perfect color to come in.
