5 Reasons to Use Anti Aging Skincare in Your 20’s

Sorry I’m not even sorry I’ve been writing about skincare non stop recently. This stuff is crazy important!

I definitely noticed my metabolism started to change when I turned 24. Now at 25, I’m realizing my plump, spotless skin may not last forever. More days than not I’m fighting with dryness, dullness, dark circles…and even the occasional fine line.

But I’m not the type to wallow and sulk. I’m the type to do my research and fight back!

So let’s talk about anti-aging skincare in your 20’s and why you need to get on it!

★ The best offense is a good defense.

I’m not into sports, but I’m all about stealing this sports motto when it comes to my skincare routine. While reparative skincare is awesome, in your 20’s it’s all about preventative skincare.

I like to think about my anti-aging skincare routine is akin to taking my vitamins. Using anti-aging products while I’m young means I’m working to fight signs of skin damage and aging (like sun damage and wrinkles – eek!) before they even appear.

Our skin is our largest organ, yet we tend to care for it the least.

Us kids, we just think we’re invincible.

But we aren’t, and neither is our skin. We only get one body and one skin! Lately I’ve been making up for lost time and am holding myself accountable to loving my skin.

★ Anti-aging skincare doesn’t have to break the bank.

One of the big reasons women in their 20’s don’t use anti-aging skincare is because they think it’s too expensive. And it’s true – lots of brands want you to believe that price tag is a direct correlation to quality. Consider that myth officially busted.

For the past month I’ve been obsessed with everything Olay. Olay isn’t a new brand on the block, but as I started my search for anti aging skincare I fell down the rabbit hole of expensive serums and creams. I’m actually kind of horrified at how much I spent. And then I found Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Face Moisturizer.

Cue the clouds opening up and a stream of angelic light shining down from the heavens.

You guys. A 1.7 ounce jar of Micro-Sculpting Cream is less than $30. That’s less than half of what I was spending on smaller, single jars of department store anti-aging creams. An independent test by the Good Housekeeping Institute showed that Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream outperforms 10 top prestige creams, including one with a $440 price tag.

The even bigger sinker? Those other creams were one hit wonders.

★ Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

The thing I love most about Micro-Sculpting Cream Face Moisturizer is that it’s an anti-aging cream and moisturizer all-in-one.

The key to healthy, plump, and young looking skin? Hydration. I have some seriously dry skin that has a tendency to look dull. Micro-Sculpting Cream locks in moisture while also providing anti-aging benefits.

And it’s not costing me an arm and a leg to hydrate.

★ Hydrated, healthy skin means less annoying acne.

Acne is the bane of my existence. I’ve been fighting acne since I was fifteen and it’s been quite the war. Unfortunately usually the acne wins and I end up slathering my face in various medicines while screaming, “WHY GOD WHY?!”

But not today, pesky acne.

Acne is typically caused by one of three scenarios. Scenario one is hormone driven. Scenario two is clogged pores. Scenario 3? Surprisingly enough it’s over production of oil due to lack of hydration.

Crazy, right? Your skin can actually produce too much oil simple because it’s thirsty and over compensating. That means that regularly using a moisturizer can actually prevent zits.

★ Your skin’s destiny is in your hands!

You know why I love our generation? Millenials are empowered. We are a generation that believes we control our own destiny and our own fate. Anything is possible for us as long as we work and we believe.

So why is it that we constantly blame bad skin on bad genes?

A recent Olay study with 155,000 women showed that 80% of skin’s anti-aging destiny is within women’s control and is actually not related to genes.

Mind. Blown.

It’s awesome to know that we aren’t necessarily destined to have the skin of our parents (…although my mom is all about Olay so her skin looks pretty kickin’ too). Just by investing the time into using anti-aging skincare we can control our own skin’s destiny. It’s not all in the genes!
