My Crazy Simple Winter Skincare Routine

Winter is coming.

Actually – it’s here. I’ve had dry and dull skin all my life (don’t forget the dark circles) so winter hasn’t exactly always been kind. This year I finally feel like I’ve hit my stride. I have a super simple full-body skincare routine that I’ve been using and I’ve seen big impacts in a short amount of time.

So let’s break it down!

★ Step 1: Cleanse face with Olay Daily Facials

A huge game changer in my skincare routine has been learning how to cleanse properly. I spent years slapping on creams without properly cleansing beforehand. This meant none of my skincare products could actually work.

I switched over to using Olay Daily Facials (we talked about it here!) because they’re crazy convenient. I usually bring a wipe with me into the shower and lather my face on up. They give me a powerful clean. This leaves my skin ready to absorb any products I use afterwards.

★ Step 2: Hydrate body with Kopari Coconut Melt

A big step I was missing in my skincare routine for a looooong time was remembering the rest of my body. So much of skincare is focused on the face – I was neglecting everything else.

I started adding Kopari’s coconut melt into my routine for total body hydration. This is essentially pure coconut oil – so it’s all natural and adds extra moisture to my skin. Plus it smells deliciously like coconuts.

★ Step 3: Hydrate face with Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with SPF 15

In the past I layered cream over cream, over cream. A solid skincare routine includes a moisturizer, a sunscreen with SPF, and various other creams or serums for anti-aging and other healthy properties.

In the last month I’ve switched entirely over to just one product: Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with SPF 15. The Total Effects formula is insanely hydrating – and vitamin packed! This means my routine is simple, but my skincare is not.

★ Step 4: Combat dark circles with Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye Gel

This is my favorite part of my skincare routine: tackling tough dark circles.

I’ve had horrible dark circles for as long as I can remember. I felt pretty powerless about a solve. Most eye creams are designed to fight signs of aging, puffiness, or bags. Dark circles are a special kind of annoying.

I’m going to break out a little of the science behind this one because my dark circles need science, not just pretty packaging. The Hydrating Eye Gel is formulated with hyaluronic acid which helps to give an instant awake look to my tired eyes. The gel is also packed with peptides, pro-vitamin B5 & cucumber extract to help hydrate.

It’s the bomb dot com.

I really put Olay to the test on this one. for the past 28 days I swapped out my usual (aka long) routine for the Total Effects Moisturizer and Deep Hydrating Eye Gel.

Nothing else.

The results of my 28 Day Challenge are unreal. When I started the challenge I struggled with redness and uneven skin tone. I also definitely struggled with dark circles. My skin now is smooth in both texture and tone. And my dark circles? They are still creeping up, but they’re noticeably brighter. I’ve been looking more awake and alive lately and I’m digging it.

I love the way my skin looks now, but I’ll keep it real. What I love more is the time I’ve gotten back each day. I wake up, I do my makeup, I work a full time job, I commute, I come home and make dinner, I prepare our breakfasts for the next day, I clean, I shower, I blog. I pack so much into a single day of my life and my old skincare routine was sucking up a ton of time. The Olay 28 Day Challenge proved skincare doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to be powerful.
