NYFW Fall/Winter 17 – Day 1

Fashion week was insane! I’ve been blowing up my blog and social media with tons of coverage but figured it’d be awesome to take you guys with me through my days in the big apple. Unfortunately I only got two full days in – but sheesh those days were packed.

Mom and I were supposed to land in New York at 4 pm on Thursday but the crazy snow storm delayed us until 10 pm on Friday. That means I missed all my shows on Friday. I was seriously so devastated.

The biggest heartbreak was that I was invited to Michael Costello. Yes, the Michael Costello. Like designed Beyonce’s famous white lace Grammy dress Michael Costello.

I sent a blogger babe friend of mine to take photos for the both of us. Talk about having serious FOMO. I was so bummed I couldn’t be there but so happy someone who truly gets it got to go! See ya next season, Michael. Kiss kiss.

Saturday February 11, 2017

8:00 am

I had to be up bright and early on Saturday for a shoot with Laurel Creative. Lauren is the bomb dot com. She showed up with two interns and a pop up changing tent.

It rocked.

You’ve already seen one of the looks from my shoot here, but I’m saving the rest for later. Wink wink.

11:00 am – Jill Stuart

My first show of the day (or ever) was Jill Stuart. This presentation rocked. The space was gorgeous (just look at those columns) and so were the clothes.

Everything was deep, dark, and romantic. Even the effortless hair and the maybe I tried maybe I didn’t makeup was perfect. My favorite pieces were the embroidered blazer and sheer top (shown below). I also loved that she incorporated different textures – everything from velvet to good old fashioned lurex.

Into it.

1:30 pm

After Jill Stuart I hopped in a Lyft back to the hotel to prep for another shoot. I was supposed to have this shoot with Lydia on Friday but the storm meant we had to push it back a day.

Two shoots in one day is actually a ton of work. We’re talking shooting seven different outfits. My favorite of the bunch was this one here. Hand me a leather jacket and a little black dress and I’m good.

3:00 pm – ShopStyle Social House

Next up on my list was the ShopStyle Social House. Social House is just that – a perfect spot for influencers to take a break from the NYFW madness, sip on some bubbles, and socialize.

The views from Canoe Studios were amazing. There were also some really cool booths. There was an artist sketching quick portraits of bloggers, the aforementioned champagne bar, a coffee station, racks on racks of clothes from awesome brands, and a little GiGi New York table.

I walked away having finally met some of my internet friends in real life – and with a new personalized folio from GiGi.

Oh, did I mention Rach Parcell totally popped by while I was there. I felt like too much of a loser to ask for a photo but was definitely fan-girling inside.

5:00 pm

My poor mom had been dealing with problems with our hotel room all day. She deserved a night out and I totally was ready for some girl time.

We met one of my good friends at Chelsea Market for dinner! I’ve been to New York before but never Chelsea Market. There are so many different vendors, restaurants, and shops inside. It’s so eclectic and amazing! We started with a round of oysters and chowder. My mom also found some amazing sashimi.

Obvi we had to end our meal with some fresh mini donuts. So damn good.

6:00 pm – Georgine

After Chelsea Market I ran off to Georgine. The accents of leather and fur were right up my alley. Leather and fur are standard Fall neutrals, but I liked seeing them done in non traditional ways.

The embroidery on that jacket? To die for. The styling was also totally rock and roll, cool girl edge. The hair was big and messy and beautiful.

So much love.

8:00 pm – Francesca Liberatore

I ended my Saturday night at Francesca Liberatore. The collection was absolutely modern and relevant, but had nods of vintage flair. There were definitely some 70’s moments and they were awesome.

The 70’s are actually back in a real big way you guys. Break out the bellbottoms and don’t be afraid of colors, patterns, and prints.

While the cooler pieces were like works of art, my favorites will always be those that are elegant and classic. I was in love with this beautiful lace dress and grey fur trim coat below.

After a full day of shoots and shows I was dead tired. Also I’m basically a 60 year old woman in a 25 year old’s body. I can’t hang. Mom and I went to bed early and it felt so good.

Check out my NYFW vlog and see the shows for yourself!
